A clinico-statistical analysis was performed on 18,476 cases who were treated at department of otolaryngology, St. Paul hospital during five years from Jan. 1967 to Dec. 1971.
The results were as follows;
1. The highest incidence was observed in the first decade (36%) and´ followed by the second decade (20%) in age distribution and sex incidence was ´slightly higher in males than females with a ratio 1.2 to 1.
2. The highest incidence was observed on August in monthly distribution and in summer in the seasonal distribution.
3. The organ distribution wass highest in the ears (32% and followed by nose (25%), pharynx (18%), oral cavity (9%), larynx (3%), esophagus and bronchus (0.6%), and the cases of diagnosis pended were about 7 percent.
4. The most frequent incidence of the ear was the Otofurunculosis (25%) and followed by the Chronic suppurative otitis media (22%).
5. The most frequent incidence in the nose and paranasal sinuses was the paranasal sinusitis (20%) and followed by the epistaxis (17%).
6. The most frequent incidence in the pharynx was the acute tonsillitis (31%) and followed by the chronic tonsillitis (27%).
7. The most frequent incidence in the larynx was the acute laryngitis (58%) and followed by the chronic laryngitis (18%).
8. The most frequent incidence in the oral cavity was the Stomatis (54%) and followed by the Thrush (23%).
9. The. admission rate was 6 percent and operation rate 5 percent of total patients.
10. The malignat tumor incidence was 0.25 percent to total patients and organ distribution was showed the larynx (35%), oral cavity (24%), nose and paranasal sinuses (22%) and pharynx (15%).
11. The tuberculosis incidence was 0. 07 percent of total patients and the most frequent in the tonsils (46%) and followed ´by the larynx (30%).
